[from front jacket flap] The most unpredictable, unbelievable and thrilling cars in the 1960s drag racing had to be the Fuel Altereds. Action with Fuel Altereds could include smoky tire runs, cars skating sideways, wheelstands or even expensive blower explosions. Because each run seemed to be a new adventure the cars were notoriously inconsistent. Thus it was almost impossible to predict the winners in Fuel Altered Eliminator shows. That helped make Fuel Altered racing more exciting. The book tells the history of the Fuel Altereds. It begins with the 1957 fuel ban (no nitro or alcohol), explaining how Fuel Roadster and Fuel Coupe competition was reborn and expanded to become the Fuel Altereds. By 1967 the Fuel Altereds had entered into their best years. After 1971 the major changes in drag racing resulted in declining Fuel Altered activity, even as the racing was getting better. Fuel Altereds have a special place in drag racing history. They were fast and much more than exciting. The cars had names like "Winged Express," "Pure Hell," 'Rat Trap," "Pure Heaven," "Nanook," "The Mob," and "Magnificent 7." The Fuel Altereds presented some great Fuel Altered Eliminator programs. And they did it themselves with no help from the sanctioning bodies of drag racing. Here is the history of Those Wild Fuel Altereds. N° de réf. du vendeur 20220126008
