This book is the story of John Gerber who raced "sprint cars" for half of his life and a history of "dirt track" racing. Gerber's autobiography reveals the world of "Outlaw" racing in the 1920s and 30s when a band of gypsy racers followed the money across the US in open competition events. He quit racing when Jim was born in 1939 and passed away in 1979 making this a posthumous autobiography written by John and published 1997 by his family under his name. Laid-in is a 1949 trifold brochure advertising the Midwest Midget Auto Racing Association and a color photograph of one of John's restored racers. A clean very presentable copy.
