This hilarious and informative study of "alternative Westerns" takes aim at sub-par cowboy fiction. Author Bill Pronzini surveys pulp magazines of the 1920s and 30s as well as paperbacks of the 50s, 60s, and 70s to provide juicy excerpts of laughably awful dialogue. He also offers humorous plot summaries, anecdotes, and historical background on tales from the heyday of the horse opera.
Biographie de l'auteur
American author and anthologist Bill Pronzini has written scores of short stories and novels, including Snowbound, which was awarded the Grand Prix de la Litterature Policiere as France's best crime novel of 1988. His numerous other honors include the "Grand Master" designation from the Mystery Writers of America, six Edgar nominations, and three Shamus awards.
