Sturgis, Joshua B. Johnson, Nathan D. Griffith, Kevin D. Weimer, & Melissa English. SERIES: A Review of Scholarship . . . By Serious Students . . . About Ideas. The LockeSmith Review is a student-written and student-directed annual review of classical liberal scholarship. Named for two of classical liberalism's most prominent thinkers, political philosopher John Locke and political economist Adam Smith, the volume's title embodies its philosophy. The review provides students a forum to explore the principles of individualism, property rights and a market economy, the rule of law, and social toleration in a manner that transcends momentary ideological complaints and, instead, cultivates interest in a mature, scholarly dialogue of classical liberalism's rich intellectual tradition. Each volume contains research aimed at a particular theme; this year's focus is "Great Thinkers in Classical Liberalism." Readers will find analyses of several influential classical liberal writers, including Locke, Smith, Ricardo, Mill, de Tocqueville, Hume, Mises, and Hayek, as well as a comprehensive overview of classical liberal thought (including a historical timeline of great thinkers, works, and movements). Also, the review provides policy analyses of contemporary issues, book reviews, and commentary by the student editors on the key events of the past year. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
