The writer was wounded at the Battle of Shiloh, recuperated and then joined the Third (3rd) Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and served from Nashville and Kennesaw Mountain, Jonesborough, Atlanta and Macon under Garrard, Wilson and Kilpatrick.
