Synopsis

In this collection of interviews, essays and critiques, Patrick L. Schmidt examines how globalization is changing the way we look at both others and ourselves. Editor-in-chief of the Sietar Europa Journal for six years, he s spent time with the pioneers (Geert Hofstede, Nancy Adler, Milton Bennett), as well as a host of others, discussing the early life experiences that led them to the intercultural field...and the road since. Accompanying this rhythmic sweep of minds are articles which explore everything from cross-cultural frameworks in third-culture kids to the ethnocentric writings of Mark Twain to the interlocking of language and thought to a look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, the ultimate expatriate. Insightful, witty, audacious, DANCING TO A DIFFERENT TUNE is the sparkling, often provocative story of how people are dealing with the challenges of a multicultural planet.
