Young Daniel Santos, is transported back in time over 5,000 years on Manitoulin Island, Ontario along with his long time buddy and companion, Ebony, the black wolf. This modern day traveller is appointed the new chief of the East Colossus Village of the Ojibwa First Nations Peoples. With his 21st Century knowledge he attempts to change the ways of the hunter/gather peoples to be more farmers and livestock herders. To safeguard the squaws and younglings who are left behind when the warriors go off on their hunts to gather meat for the cold season Daniel tries to convince the Good People of his village to build a huge stone fortress, but he risks alienating the natives who are reluctant to change. With the help of his new native wife, Ahawi and one of the first born son’s of The Great Mystery, Kitchi Manitou, Tijus Keha, progress is made. Far to the south a new confederacy of clans newly created the Five Nations Union fear the advances being made by the East Colossus Village white-skinned leader. To protect them and all other nations far and wide they plan an all out attack on the Ojibwa people on Manitou Land, but are totally dumbfounded by the seemingly impenetrable new stone structure before them when they arrive to attack the village and kill the white-skinned leader. Ebony, the black wolf, goes off on his own to live the life of a normal wolf, to find a mate and to raise a family of his own. He becomes instrumental in warning Daniel of the advancing army of warriors from the south determined to destroy him and his efforts to change The Good People. Tawis Karong, the other first born son of Kitchi Manitou betrays the Good People and a major battle ensues between the two warring factions. Who wins the battle? How do the changes made by Daniel affect the 21st Century still over 5,000 years in the future? And how does all the fighting end? A Fortress Lost in Time is the fourth book in the black wolf series. To those who have read books one, Jennifer’s Boots, two, The Black Wolf, and three, Running Fawn’s Legacy, many questions that may have remained unanswered will be answered in this fourth book in the series, but some will not.
