Synopsis
American-born Renata Knaebel found herself in Germany during WWII. Reni was only fourteen when she and her mother tried to return to the U.S. at the end of hostilities. She was aided by a number of American soldiers who she kept in touch with in the following years. Here are their letters, which show not only the experiences of the soldiers in Germany in 1946, but also how Reni and the men adapted to their new lives back home. Heartfelt and stirring, this collection of letters illuminates a period of history that has long been neglected. Includes over 50 photos.
