Lois Richmond joined the Ladies’ Library Association in 2002 where she served as the organization’s president from 2012-2014. It was during that time she became fascinated with the history of the organization’s mascot gargoyle and its actual disappearance. In honor of the $1.5 million renovations of the Ladies’ Library Association (in 2013) Lois celebrates the gargoyle and his decades-long history as an iconic fixture in this, her debut book. Lois was born and raised in Richland, Michigan. She attended Bronson School of Nursing and Western Michigan University in nearby Kalamazoo where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. After more than thirty years as a nurse at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, she retired as assistant director of nursing administration. She enjoys many hobbies, and the self-taught naturalist has held nature classes for adults at her private nature preserve.
