Synopsis

A² is a qualitative inquiry that pushes the bounds of multidisciplinary scholarship through poetics, prose, and academic discourse. Though fairly new, poetic inquiry as a research method has been found in "social science disciplines of psychology, sociology, anthropology, nursing, social work, geography, women's/feminist studies and education," (Prendergast, 2009, p. 545). Harnessing this methodology, Dr. Ayo Sekai ventures to push the limits of academic scholarship by interrogating poetic discourse to address stigmas, norms and psycho-cultural perceptions weaponized against Black people through language. Recognizing the usage of language in oppressive systems, A² takes readers on an intellectual journey that harnesses the Black experience through poetically informed research, blending the socio-cultural lens of the spoken word. With a foundation of political science, and Sekai's unique voice in the field of Linguistic Imperialism, this text provides eye-opening perspectives through its titular scholarly poetical science discourse.

Earning her Ph.D. in Political Science from Howard University (HBCU), Dr. Sekai operationalize her research specializations in Black Politics and International Relations to interrogate language structures through the frameworks of Linguistic Imperialism, Glottopolitics, and Raciolinguistic to disrupt public policy and politics that perpetuates structural and systematic racism, Dr. Sekai uses her platform to elevate Black Scholars' research that bridges the gap between the Global North and the Global South with inclusive diasporic narratives. Dr. Ayo Sekai is a Fulbright Specialist and a life member of multiple academic and practitioner associations. She serves on numerous boards and is an active scholar presenting and writing on topics that align with her research scholarly publications, including her recorded social justice poetry as a spoken word poetic activist and her book, A2: A Scholarly Poetical Science Discourse.

Rosier's role as a change-maker, and GenZ social activist, utilizes her voice as a published author, artist, and video production enthusiast who enjoys collaborative environments, to assess critical ideology and concepts that impact the world around us. Rosier's interests are vast, spanning multiple disciplines, including art, animation, writing, marketing and branding, climate/sustainability sciences, and video and photo design. She has a BS in Neuro Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master's Degree in Animal Science with a Film Thesis through her studies at Tisch NYU.

For over 40 years, Dr. Nobles has studied classical African philosophy (Kemet, Twa & Nubian) and traditional African wisdom traditions (Akan, Yoruba, Bantu, Wolof, Dogon, Fon, Lebou, etc) as the grounding for the development of an authentic Black psychology. His professional career and life's work has been no less than a formal engagement in the on-going theoretical development and programmatic application of African (Black) psychology, African centered thought, and cultural grounding to address the liberation and restoration of the African mind and world-wide development of African people. Dr. Nobles is Professor Emeritus of Africana Studies and Black Psychology at San Francisco State University; a co-founder (and Past President) of the Association of Black Psychologists; and the founder and Executive Director of the Institute for the Advanced Study of Black Family, Life and Culture, Inc. He is the author of over one hundred (100) articles, chapters, research reports and books, including African Psychology: Toward its Reclamation, Reascension and Revitalization, Seeking the Sakhu: Foundational Writings in African Psychology, The Island of Memes: Haiti's Unfinished Revolution. Since 1996, he has co-led "The Enyimnyam Project", a unique and special study-development project designed to connect Africans from the Diaspora with Africans from the continent.
