Leather bound. Etat : Very good. [4], xxx, color and black and white photograph 16 page insert, 608 pages. No dust jacket present. Gilt edge. Specialty endpapers. Certificate of authenticity present. Informal photograph of President Ford signing present. Foreword and Exclusive New Material from former United States President and Last Surviving Member of the Warren Commission, President Gerald R. Ford. Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. (born Leslie Lynch King Jr.; July 14, 1913 December 26, 2006) was the 38th president of the United States, serving from 1974 to 1977. A member of the Republican Party, Ford assumed the presidency after the resignation of President Richard Nixon, under whom he had served as the 40th vice president from 1973 to 1974 following Spiro Agnew's resignation. Prior to that, he served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1949 to 1973. On November 29, 1963, President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed Ford to the Warren Commission, a special task force set up to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Ford was assigned to prepare a biography of accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. He and Earl Warren also interviewed Jack Ruby, Oswald's killer. According to a 1963 FBI memo that was released to the public in 2008, Ford was in contact with the FBI throughout his time on the Warren Commission and relayed information to the deputy director, Cartha DeLoach, about the panel's activities. In the preface to his book, A Presidential Legacy and The Warren Commission, Ford defended the work of the commission and reiterated his support of its conclusions. Hand Signed by the late President Gerald R. Ford. This is his final book and provides the reader with Ford's thoughts on issues concerning us all today from 9-11 to the presidents he knew. Each copy comes with Certificate of Authenticity and Serial Number. "I completely replaced cabinet and staff. You may recognize some of my appointees: George H. W. Bush - Director, CIA Richard Cheney - Chief of Staff Donald Rumsfeld - Secretary of Defense Alan Greenspan - Chairman, Council of Economic Advisors; ; Difficulties with FBI-CIA interagency communications were among our key findings, and that was reinforced by later investigations. Why were those communications still so inadequate in September of 2001?; Did a renegade official, a criminal organization, or some other government influence their actions? The assassination was a national tragedy, but what made it a frustrating nightmare was that only two days later, as the presumed assassin was being transported to the Dallas County jail, he was murdered by Jack Ruby. Coincidence or conspiracy? Given the new facts, could there still have been a conspiracy? Conceivably." This is an heirloom. One that Ford gifted to his friends in the White House and to other world leaders. This was his project, his book which he helped design as a part of his legacy. The President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy, known unofficially as the Warren Commission, was established by President Lyndon B. Johnson through Executive Order 11130 on November 29, 1963, to investigate the assassination of United States President John F. Kennedy that had taken place on November 22, 1963. The U.S. Congress passed Senate Joint Resolution 137 authorizing the Presidential appointed Commission to report on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, mandating the attendance and testimony of witnesses and the production of evidence. Its final report was presented to President Johnson on September 24, 1964, and made public three days later. It concluded that President Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald and that Oswald acted entirely alone. It also concluded that Jack Ruby acted alone when he killed Oswald two days later. The Commission's findings have proven controversial and have been both challenged and supported by later studies. The Commission took its unofficial namethe Warren Commissionfrom its chairman, Chief Justice Earl Warren. Accor. N° de réf. du vendeur 89471
