Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. Amanda Card argues the need to reinvigorate dance in Australia. She urges the need for radical change in the current structure of our dance companies, which should become entrepreneurs employing pools of dancers to work with invited choreographers. Once dancers joined ballet, modern dance groups or chorus lines and did what they were directed to do. Today the art is more collaborative but still bound by old-fashioned structures impose by university dance studios. Today there are too many graduating students and little steady work, few auditions and decreasing opportunity for newcomers.
