Doug Snelson is an award-winning children's picture book author and poet. His children's books are written for ages 4 to 9 utilizing couplets to encourage interest and interaction with the colorful illustrations. "Everybody Deserves a Hug", is a message of love, kindness, inclusion and understanding. (Mom's Choice Award Gold Award) "Lap cuddlers listening to this sweet read-aloud will get all the snuggles they need."  Kirkus Reviews Doug believes children's books should be fun, interactive, and educational. His philosophy on storytelling is based on the idea that children and adults should be at play as much as possible. Play includes two qualities: awe and concentration. Awe is the ability to see the beauty and wonder of life in anything and everything. Concentration is a focus on the joy of experiencing simple, everyday activities. Doug holds a BS in Communications from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications as well as an MA in Communications from William Paterson University. He is a former officer in the United States Marine Corps.
