This is history made interesting. Read first-person accounts from Colorado newspapers of 1904-1910 about the planning and creation of the Government High Line Canal. The canal was and is an integral part of the Grand Valley Project. This project is one of the most successful irrigation systems created by the Bureau of Reclamation in the early 1900s. The system consisting of the original diversion dam - the ‘Roller Dam’ - and its siphons, tunnels and canals is still operating today to create an oasis of farming and productivity in the Grand Valley of western Colorado. We welcome you to enjoy the exciting genesis of the project and hear the voices of the people and the politics that made it happen.
