Synopsis

Every interesting building and city offers quilters an enthralling challenge: How to capture the essence while having a very good time! Inside this 96-page book, you'll find:

• Illustrated step-by-step instructions for 25+ buildings in a wide assortment of styles and techniques; plus guidance and ideas for many more. Real building photos next to fabric interpretations, plus fantasy buildings, will spark your creativity!
• Only fun techniques - like a Seminole-pieced skyscraper, Log Cabin towers, and the Hotel Bargello. A few can be foundation paper pieced. For curvy buildings, there's improv curved piecing, and bias appliqué. The Attic Windows technique skips the "y" seams. Some buildings require appliqué and/or templates, most of which are full-size.
• Challenges for all skill levels. Beginners can start with the easiest techniques, and expand skills as they go. Advanced quilters will pick up techniques, too, like the author's unique method for turning raw edges under during piecing.
• How improvisation and asymmetry can make your scene more compelling.
• Make it pop! Create 3D artist's perspective with strategic fabric and cutting choices - but without the microscopic accuracy, zillions of templates, or years of study required to create perspective in realistic drawing or painting.
• For a baby or child's quilt, put cute creatures in windows, or on rooftops and balconies; for eco-conscious adults, "green" your city with flowers, fruits, vegetables, vines, chickens, etc.!

Note: There are no quilt patterns in this book - there is inspiration and detailed guidance to help you make anything from a 1-building pillow, to a 3-building wallhanging, to large bed quilt with dozens of buildings!

You may never look at buildings the same way again!
