Synopsis

Violet Rightmire is the pen name of Debra Webb Rogers, a retired professional ballet dancer. She was born in Ithaca, New York, but has lived most of her life in Florida. She graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. degree in Education, and currently teaches dance at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville. Ms. Rogers was a dancer with The Birmingham Ballet, The Israel Ballet, and The Florida Ballet. She has been a guest artist and teacher at schools and companies throughout the southeast, and has appeared in Bride's magazine and in a commercial that won both an Addy and an Emmy award. Ms. Rogers has written several works of nonfiction: "The Boone Connection"; "Dancing Between the Ears"; and "Choosing a Dance School"; plus two books published by Arcadia Publishing: "San Marco", and "Jacksonville’s Southside". She has also written for the national magazine Dancebag, and a guest column for the Florida Times-Union. Her first novel, "Dancing in Time", published by The Wild Rose Press, was an EPIC Award finalist. When she is not teaching or writing, Ms. Rogers enjoys hiking and exploring the Appalachian Mountains with her husband Sam. They also love taking train trips around the country.
