John Dobson has been on the Johnny Carson show twice as a guest. There are two articles about Dobson in Smithsonian Magazine. He has been featured in two movies: KCET's The Astronomers by PBS, and Jeffrey Jacob's A Sidewalk Astronomer. He was partly responsible for what is known as the Dobsonian Revolution in amateur telescopes. You can find much more information about him on the Internet.
