Writing Doves Collect has been a labor of love, created in hopes to capture the reader's imagination, while taking their mind on a holiday -- a holiday where they will be swept away from the hustle and bustle of their day-to-day routine, identifying with the characters' trials and tribulations and come to think of them as their friends; some they will cheer on and sympathize with, and some they will love to hate. Either way, they will be missed when coming to the end. As in life, the roles of the characters in the story are not limited to one simple category; they are braided and bound by the intricate weave of them all. As you embrace the storyline and characters I’ve created, my intention is for you to come to think of them as real figures plucked from the pages of history. And although I have included a tremendous amount of information about the workings of the Civil War and following era’s to support the integrity and enrichment of the tale, Dove Collect is historical fiction.
