Synopsis

The title of this book in English is Business Law: A Key to Contract and Company Law. It is designed for the Lithuanian reader.

The various types of legal entities available in Lithuania are described in a comparative manner. Three chapters provide an anatomy of the parts of a typical contract. Other chapters describe what is needful to know about contract formation, about corporations and other business organizations, and even about some issues concerning corporate governance.

Special types of contracts are also detailed, such as confidentiality, contact referral, and commission agreements, as well as agreements for a commissioned work and others.

The reader will deepen his understanding of the law, but not only as it is in Lithuania. Most topics are explained in a comparative fashion, with reference to their historical roots or in regard to problems common to multiple countries.

À propos de l'auteur

Tadas Klimas has been chief legal counsel to the Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament, law school dean, and has taught law in an American law school (as well as in Lithuania and Brazil). He is an awardee of the NIMA (National Intelligence Medal of Achievement), at the time perhaps the highest American intelligence award, awarded in a ceremony officiated by Robert Gates. Klimas is also a member of the Lithuanian Order of Merit, Knight's Cross, granted by decree of the President of Lithuania. His other publications include Comparative Contract Law (Carolina Academic Press).
