Synopsis
The first book in the Cha Cha Series is Why Jade Was Spayed. The story follows the journey of Jade, a plump little Siamese kitten, who wonders why she has so many relatives that she doesn't know. She also wonders why her mother keeps having kittens when it clearly tires her relative and is not in the best interest of her mom or the babies. Throughout the story, Jade discusses the problem with many neighboring animals whereby she realizes that spaying and neutering are the answers to the dilemma. The 32 page book includes 14 pages of color illustrations that draw the reader in with their humor and expert draftsmanship. The stories are equally entertaining with wonderful characters and charming story lines. Elementary aged children will love the pictures and enjoy the stories, yet at the same time learn how to care for and respect animals in their community. They teach compassion and respect for animals; at the same time, offering suggested activities that inform children how to be proactive in their daily lives.
