Synopsis

Coming From Where I'm From is a literary journey chronicling the turbulent life of Rayshawn Wilson. After spending two years in prison for theft, Rayshawn Wilson was released in 1997. Upon his graduation from Otterbein College in 2002, he became the first person in his family to receive a college degree. During his matriculation at Otterbein, Mr. Wilson excelled academically, athletically, and socially and earned a BA in Sociology. During his tenure at Otterbein, he lettered three of his four years as a member of the varsity football team and represented the university in the National College All Stars Game for two consecutive years. He was an active member of the African American Student Union, and was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated in 1999. In 2000, Mr. Wilson received the Frederick Douglass Award for achievement. Following his work at Otterbein, Rayshawn went on to acquire a MS in Criminal Justice Administration from Tiffin University as well as a MSEd in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton. In 2009, he became the the sole proprietor at Pathways Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC where he is committed to providing a broad range of innovative, high quality services in the areas of substance abuse, mental health and criminal justice in the Central Ohio area. Mr. Wilson is a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor all through the State of Ohio. He has over 10 years of diverse experience in social service and community corrections including management, training, counseling,emotionally/behaviorally disturbed youth and adult offender population. Rayshawn believes that his experiences and knowledge can benefit others, he continues his outreach through public speaking and implementing positive programs. To date, he has been the keynote speaker and lecture at several correctional institutions, organizations, area high schools, radio shows, colleges and universities, and has been recognized in Columbus Who’s Who In Black Columbus in 2009 & 2011 & 2013.
