Synopsis

Jim Rapp looks at nature, theology, politics and philosophy and sees things to celebrate with light-hearted poems, things to ponder with thoughtful poems, and things that call forth the prophet in him. "Second Crop", a collection of more that 100 poems, follows Jim's other books of poetry, "Perfect Imperfection" and "Sandals: The Journey of Abraham and Sarah and Hagar." In his roles as pastor, public school teacher, union official, Bible teacher, church Board member, author, and drama producer, Jim has always championed the cause of the underdog, the poor, the displaced, the persecuted. Many of his poems fulfill a prophetic role he believes he is obligated to pursue: speaking out against practices and policies of our society that disadvantage the poor and privelege the powerful and wealthy.

À propos de l?auteur

Jim Rapp is a retired public school teacher. He served as pastor of a small congregation for six years before completing a Master's Degree program in History. After 27 years of teaching history he turned to drama, co-directing more than thirty full-length musical dramas over a 12 year period. One third of the dramas were children's musicals. Jim now is fully retired and enjoys spending time writing. He and Alice, his wife of 56 years, live in Eau Claire, WI year round. In fact winter is arguably the best season of the year in his estimation. All the "snow birds" fly south and he can sit, undisturbed, by the fire, reading, writing, and nodding.
