Synopsis

Can a man with an all-consuming drive to achieve success in his art make room for a spectacular love? In The Preludes he goes for both, risking for the win. The woman in question - strong, smart and as driven as he - fights the worthy fight. They tangle over twelve days. It is beautiful to watch. John Caedan puts you in the front row for the spectacle, and has even composed music for the show. This novel might seem 'short' in length, but its reach is very long. One reader put it another way: the unfolding is "fast ... and deliciously slow."
