Synopsis

My first exposure to the writings of D. M. MIntyre came through a copy of The Hidden Life of Prayer given to me (and to many other young men) by Leonard Ravenhill. It continues to be the most helpful book I have ever read on the subject of prayer. The Prayer-Life of Our Lord follows in the same train and breathes the same heavenly atmosphere. D. M. MIntyre is a master at drawing out the profound implications of seemingly simple events. In The Prayer-Life of Our Lord, he centers his meditations on Christs own prayer life, especially as it was manifested during the 'turning points' and crisis times that lay on His pathway to the cross. As a result, we are given an intimate glimpse into the wondrous personality of One who was both God and man, and we are led once more to fall before Him in worship and praise. At the same time, we are challenged to 'follow in His steps' and to imitate His example in 'the school of prayer.' I highly recommend this book. --Charles Leiter, author of Justification and Regeneration
