Synopsis

A novelist’s mind is a strange, strange place.

Characters, who are only imagined, can break free

and start doing whatever they want to do.

Longtime novelist ML O’Connor has no idea what’s going on when, one by one, three characters from her books start showing up at her front door and spending time at her house every day.

Yes, it’s nice to learn what’s been happening with them and the trio can (somewhat) seamlessly mesh with … reality. But dealing with company can get old quickly. Even company that doesn’t actually exist.

Or does. Sort of.

That’s not to say Ray, Jacob, and Anna are unruly. Just strong-willed. Colorful. Exactly what a writer wants in a character. Perhaps if they could just get along better with each other. Stop the sniping. And leave the fictitious cat somewhere else.

Then too, it’s not that ML has suddenly lost her mind. She’s always had a screw loose, as do all novelists. Book by book, she’s grown accustomed to that. Book by book, she’s come to depend on it more and more. But now …

Well, this is something new.
