John Witmer is a writer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His memoir explores faith, family, and the complicated path from youthful belief to adult reflection. While in college, Witmer joined a religious cult that rejected medical science and believed the end of the world was imminent. Drawing on his experiences in a high-control church environment, he examines what drew him into the group, what kept him there, and the circumstances that led him out. Through storytelling and reflection, Witmer traces the long process of making peace with his past while still holding on to faith. He lives in Wisconsin and writes about spirituality, religious experience, and personal transformation.
