Synopsis

A true story about the author, Brooklyn born - Queens, NY raised, "Shakim Bio", who grew up during the "Golden Era" of Hip Hop. Shakim soon became a respected street general in the drug trade, whose real life actions and persona, along with his comrades in crime, inspired the making of the movie "Belly" and its main characters. LessAuthor Shakim Bio reflects on his childhood to adult life, illustrating his introduction to Hip Hop Music, fading rap career dreams, associations with music industry figures and his role as a street general in the drug trade in Queens, NY and all over. His love for music survived and grew strong, while his hunger for fast money devoured his desire to become a successful emcee / rapper, landing him in Federal Prison, where even there, the music and lyrics of some of the most popular and successful rappers, twisted the minds and actions of some of the country's most grimey, hardened criminals.

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

Imagine having 20 years of your life stripped from under your feet as punishment for a crime you didn't commit... did you imagine it, CAN you imagine it? How does just the THOUGHT of that reality make you feel? Well that's the reality of Brooklyn born, Queens raised, street general turned author, Shakim Bio, who is serving time for a murder he did not commit. Despite his well documented / proven innocence (key witness recanted his statements in testimony that led to conviction, admitting to lying to receive reward money so he and his father can smoke crack), Shakim is still behind bars. A well known and respected O.G. in the five boroughs of New York City and many cities and towns in the U.S., Shakim does not claim to be the most upright citizen, in fact, his real life underworld movements and activities, which can be verified and vouched for by some of the most thorough dudes of the last two decades, along with his cohorts, inspired the writing and producing of the classic motion picture "Belly". Admittedly guilty of crimes he's already paid for (Shakim served 22 years in Federal Prison), yet innocent of murder, Shakim Bio has a love for writing and hopes his true stories will be interesting to you, as the proceeds from his sales will go directly to his lawyers, who assist him in the fight for his ultimate freedom: release from the Ohio State Prison System. Thank you for your continued support.
