Synopsis
When your heart is crying out to God, when you begin to pray, do you sometimes feel overwhelmed and at a loss for words? Do the prayers you know by heart somehow not always express your deepest pain, your most fervent yearnings, or even your strongest love? The author has followed Jesus’ teaching to his disciples when he guided them to “pray in this way.” She has opened her heart to hear God’s own guidance in praying as well as to know god’s loving and healing presence in prayer. She shares with us words that have been God’s gift to her when she cried out to God. These prayers can open our ears to hearing more clearly ‘The Still Small Voice Within’ speaking to us. At the same time, we may become more aware of God listening to us, really listening—to our cries for help, for healing, for forgiveness, for understanding, for love. Judy Brutz PhD, AAMFT is a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Her career spans marriage and family therapy, education, pastoral counseling, hospice chaplaincy, and spiritual and retreat direction. In retirement, her ministry is in giving encouragement through her writing, pastoral care, teaching, speaking, spiritual retreat direction and mentor for Education for Ministry (EfM).
