At 33 years of age, Michael Messinger was diagnosed with a stage 4, glioblastoma multiform brain tumor. This seven-centimeter piece of malignant matter turned his safe, comfortable life upside down and sent his family and friends into a state of shock, anger and sorrow. His wife would become a widow, and his children fatherless. The doctors gave him six months to live.
Through this ordeal, Michael learned that, like Christ's disciples on the Saturday after his crucifixion, we are stuck somewhere between captivity and deliverance, dark and light, evil and good. To get through his own Saturdays, Michael needed to find hope.
In his memoir A Story of Terminal Hope, Michael tells of his journey with brain cancer and his spirituality.
Drawing from scripture, films and books, he weaves his tale of hope for anyone suffering.
Using faith, humor, and a baseball team's century old story, Michael shares how true hope can be obtained through Christ - the one who suffered with us, for us, and because of us.
