Matthew Martinez is the author of the new children's book series Alex. He grew up in San Diego and has always had a love for storytelling and making kids laugh. While growing up in a family daycare had its challenges, Matthew always seemed to enjoy taking time out of his day to read to the kids. He currently resides in San Diego with his wife Ashley and their two dogs. The story of Alex was inspired by his nephew Isaac who was diagnosed with leukemia at the young age of 3. He was able to take Isaac's triumphant story of remission and turn it into a children's book about a boy named Alex going through a similar situation. Through positive thinking and a strong outlook on life, Alex and Isaac were able to overcome their obstacles. The books were created as a fundraising tool and a portion of proceeds from all sales will benefit local and national children's charities.
