There are not many people who have seen the world the way Cindie Cohagan Travis has. Formerly of Arizona, USA, Cindie has traveled 23 countries including North and South America, China, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and India – on a bicycle. Spurred on by a slow-burgeoning passion for two-wheeled transport, Cindie left her career in high-level environmental consulting and took to the road. What ensured was an adventure that took her around the world, introducing her in a way both intimate and profound to a reality unimagined by travel magazines, unobservable from a train or tour bus. This eight-and-a-half-year odyssey saw the production of a website (downtheroad.org), three travel books self-published with her then-husband and traveling companion, Tim Travis, and changed Cindie’s life irrevocably. She became an adept long-haul cyclist and camper, and developed a professional understanding of her bikes and equipment. She has since written and published her own travel books.
