They poured blood, sweat and tears into trying to hang a sixth national championship banner at Indiana. They came up short, but still they have great stories to tell.

Tom Brew has been an award-winning sports writer and newspaper editor for more than three decades. He is an Indiana University graduate who was born and raised in Schererville, Indiana. He has worked at the St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) Times, the Tampa Tribune, Indianapolis Star and South Florida Sun-Sentinel and has covered Indiana basketball and national college basketball as a writer and editor for many years. This is Tom’s second book. His first book, a novel called "The Ties That Bind," was released in 2014 to critical acclaim and deals with the perils of gambling addiction among college athletes and best friends. Tom has three grown children and two granddaughters. He still writes and edits on college sports and also owns a book publishing company. *** *** *** Terry Hutchens knows Indiana University basketball. He is beginning his 18th season covering the Hoosiers, the first 15 at the Indianapolis Star. He currently is the content manager for Btownbanners, a free fan site at www.btownbanners.com and does freelance work for the Associated Press out of Indianapolis. This is his seventh book, and sixth on IU sports topics. Five times, Terry has been honored as Indiana’s Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He also teaches sports journalism at Indiana University in Bloomington. Terry and his wife Susan have been married 29 years and live in Indianapolis. They have two grown sons, Bryan and Kevin. Terry’s other six books: A new book in 2015 is titled "So You Think You Know Indiana University Basketball (We’ll see about that)," which is an IU basketball trivia book that has separate chapters with trivia on players, coaches, national champions, venues, Bob Knight and much more. "Hoosiers Through and Through," published in 2014, took a look at the best IU basketball players of all time who hailed from the state of Indiana. "Rising from the Ashes," published in 2012, looked back at the resurgence of IU basketball brought along by Cody Zeller, Victor Oladipo, Christian Watford, Jordan Hulls and company. In 2007, his book "Hep Remembered" looked back at IU football coach Terry Hoeppner, who died from the effects of brain cancer while still the IU coach. Two years later, he wrote a book with Coach Hep’s widow, Jane Hoeppner, that was a Christian/inspirational book titled "Never Ever Quit." His first book, in 1995, was about the Indianapolis Colts called Let ‘er Rip.
