Having a cadre of trained, mentored and mentoring leaders will move your church beyond having 20% of the church members doing 80% of the work, and will prepare the church for exponential leaps in service to our King and in His mission to His world.

James Osterhouse is a pastor and missionary in the Christian Reformed Church. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature; a Masters of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary; and Clinical Pastoral Education certification I and II from Andover-Newton Theological Seminary. Jim’s ministry has provided him with experience in a wide variety of mission-oriented work. While a seminary intern in Washington, he began a campus ministry at Western Washington State College. As a missionary (church planter) in Florida he engaged in church renewal of a newer but declining congregation. He started a church “from scratch” in Wisconsin. He led a large church in Minneapolis-St. Paul into staff ministry. In each church he was engaged in building facilities as well as building leaders. Jim was able to draw on all his ministry experiences when he next served as the Home Missions regional director for the Midwest – training, encouraging and supervising campus ministers, church planters, established church pastors, and church renewal specialists for 13 years. Gary Teja is the product of a Castillian Spaniard and a New England Yankee from Vermont. In 1967 he attended the Reformed Bible Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before going on the mission field for Christian Reformed World Missions. For 16 years he and his wife, Jackie, served in Central America in church planting and theological education by extension (TEE). They lived half of that time in Nicaragua and the other half in Costa Rica. Gary also worked as director of distance education for the Missiological Institute of the Americas in San Jose, Costa Rica. Eventually he moved back to the States with his family and for 16 years worked for Christian Reformed Home Missions as director of Hispanic ministries, regional director of Classis Southeast U.S., and on the same Leadership Development Network team with Jim. Eventually, Gary became associate professor of cross-cultural studies and dean of distance education at Kuyper College. He also oversaw Calvin Seminary’s online master’s program in church planting. Gary served in various positions with Bible League International, including Senior Director for the Americas and for the Middle East, Senior director for Eastern Europe, and more recently as director of program development for the Muslim world. Today Gary is Vice President of Ministry for Multiplication Network Ministries.
