Stuart Piggin's history of Australian evangelicalism has been well received by secular as well as religious historians. This revised edition brings the story right up to the present, covering the worldwide expansion of Sydney Anglicanism and Hillsong Pentecostalism. While Australia has become increasingly 'secular,' evangelicals have become more engaged than ever in politics, education and social welfare. Written in a lively, accessible, and engaging way, this story of how God has worked through one part of his church in Australia is an exciting, encouraging and challenging one. Highly recommended. Every Evangelical Christian in Australia, on reading this book, would better understand where their denomination has come from and where it might be heading in the 21st century. Readers of all religious persuasions and none will be surprised to discover the extent to which Evangelical Christianity has shaped Australian values and identity.
