War Kids, covers the period from about 1940 until 1950, when Ann and Bryan met in their early teens. The stories related are all based on actual events. But their lives during that time were vastly different. Bryan grew up in a stable home, so the war had a greater impact on him than on Ann. Although Ann had to contend with the threatened dangers of war, her dysfunctional home was the greater threat to her and her brothers' well-being. The events of those years, during and immediately after the war, contributed to the people they became, the marriage they made, and the children they raised.
