Brenda Hartman, MSW, LICSW was working on two Ph.Ds when her life was interrupted by a diagnosis of stage 4 ovarian cancer. The life threatening diagnosis changed her life course from academics and research to becoming a therapist specializing in oncology. Facing death at a young age was an isolating experience. She has created and presented programs locally and nationally on the socio-emotional aspects of the cancer experience. As a 20+ year cancer survivor, she intimately understands the fear of dying. She is a board member for the Alumni Board for The College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota. Brenda lives with her family in St. Paul Minnesota.
