Synopsis

Against the backdrop of the social and racial strictures of the fifties, each of these characters struggles to find his or her own version of freedom. Each experiences loss, sorrow, and growth as the South begins its long march toward racial equality. PAULETTE ALDEN is the author of two collections of autobiographical short stories, Feeding the Eagles and Unforgettable; a memoir, Crossing the Moon; and The Answer to Your Question, a novel. A former Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, she taught fiction and memoir courses for many years at the University of Minnesota. She now lives in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was born and raised.
