Have you ever thought about having cosmetic surgery? It is a very personal choice. Over 15 years ago, at age 16, I had cosmetic surgery on my face--a nose reduction and chin implant.

I always wanted to be open about my surgery, but I felt as if I had to hide it, especially from church people. As the stigma against cosmetic surgery changes, more and more people are having procedures--1.7 million cosmetic surgeries in the U.S. in 2015 alone--but a lot of people are still keeping quiet about it.

I believe it is time for safe and authentic conversations about cosmetic surgery. How does cosmetic surgery impact life and relationships? This book examines the issue from a Christian worldview.

I weave my personal story throughout the book as I share what I've learned, along with research, history, and statistics. I also offer discussion questions at the end of each chapter.

If you or someone you love are considering cosmetic surgery, this book can give insight, and provide tools to make a well-rounded, mature decision about your body. If you are like me and have already undergone cosmetic surgery, this book can assist you as you process the experience.

Rachael Kathleen Hartman loves Jesus, reading, and writing. She enjoys learning about different cultures, meeting new people, and traveling with her two dapple dachshunds, Danny and Darla. She has an MS in Human Services with a Specialization in Counseling, a BA in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Writing, and is a certified Life Coach. Prior to secular college, she spent two and a half years in Bible College as a Theology Major. Rachael grew up as a proud ARMY BRAT. She was born in Houston, Texas and then moved a lot: Fort Hood, Texas; Goppingen, Germany; Fort Dix, New Jersey; Fort Sheridan, Illinois; back to Fort Hood, Texas; Annandale, Virginia; Silver Spring, Maryland; Fort Stewart, Georgia; and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. As a young adult, she's lived in Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. She is the author of three books, including Angel: The True Story of an Undeserved Chance (2013), Called to Write, Chosen to Publish: Inspiration for Christian Writers (2015), and Facing Myself: An Introspective Look at Cosmetic Surgery (2016). In 2013, she started Our Written Lives of Hope and offering publishing services to independent authors. Rachael specializes in coaching aspiring authors. She also speaks to groups about writing and living for Jesus.
