Synopsis

The American civil war had been raging for almost a year when James D. Bulloch a Confederate Naval Captain is sent to Liverpool, England. His remit build ships to fight the Union blockades and acquire firearms and cannons. With the threat of assassination, he has two brothers as bodyguards, Joe and Ian Callow.Thomas Haines Dudley the Union consul in Liverpool acts as spy master trying to block by any means Bulloch and his operations. He employs a brute of a man named Bannion to recruit spies and be his bodyguard. With Union and Confederate assassins on the loose the body count grows. The most feared of these is the garotte assassin who has everyone guessing his identity.Lincoln’s emancipation proclamation is gaining ground when he is assassinated. This forces the British governments hand as they take steps to detach themselves from any connection with the Confederacy.After four years of war the last act for the Confederacy is when Captain James Waddell sails his ship the CSS Shenandoah into the River Mersey and surrenders to the Mayor of Liverpool.
