Storyteller, artist, and musician, Beverley Conrad published her first books with Dell Publishing Company in 1980. They were Doggy Tales: Bedtime Stories for Dogs and Kitty Tales: Bedtime Stories for Cats. A stay-at-home mom, while raising her children she worked as a portrait artist and craftswoman from her home. Having played the fiddle most of her life, she eventually took the music that she played at home for her kids to the streets where she gained local popularity as a strolling musician and columnist for the National Old-time Fiddlers Association (Weiser, ID). Beverley likes stories and has been called on many times to tell stories and legends. In 2013 she and her husband, Greg Burgess, gathered many of the stories which were told to them over the years and published The Headless Dog and Other Extraordinary Far-Fetched True Tales of Central Pennsylvania, which Beverley also illustrated. In 2014, she published her first full length novel, Willis. Originally from western New York, she now lives in rural Pennsylvania where she continues telling stories, playing music, painting pictures, and writing. And yes – she has a dog. In fact, she’s always had a dog or two throughout her life.
