In "The Trimming and Relighting of the Lampstand in Isaiah", the stanza structures of Isaiah 24-35 and 57-62 are connected to features of the temple lampstand or menorah. This lampstand-structured view of Isaiah’s inspired poetry provides what modern readers may long for … the missing “table of contents” for a significant portion of the Book of Isaiah. Therefore, this proposed structure explains the abrupt topic transitions from stanza to stanza in Isaiah’s scroll! Poetry that is chiastic in the verse count is shown to fall naturally between prose sections. Detailed diagrams and charts of the structure are provided. Inclusio or the brackets for the chiastic stanzas are identified, and connected to a passage from Deuteronomy. Important connections to the New Testament are outlined. This book provides a step towards a more comprehensive, rather than piecemeal, view of Isaiah 24-35, and may eventually lead towards a better understanding of the entire scroll. The Trimming and Relighting has been reviewed by both Isaiah and Old Testament/Hebrew Scholars. This evangelical book provides a challenging study for able readers who desire a road map to help them find their way through the literary structure of Isaiah, a difficult Old Testament book that is quite central to the Judeo-Christian faiths. We know that Isaiah was given a vision of the heavenly temple by God. An article of the temple was the lampstand, or the menorah with seven lamps. This lampstand had both plant-like and lamp-like features. Why? "The Trimming and Relighting" proposes a thoughtful answer to that question.
