*** By the award-winning author of THE CULT *** The trail of the Abraxas cult is fraught with physical and moral danger for Elise, Edmond, and Martin, the three protagonists of this historical novel set in 12th-century England and Arab-Norman Sicily. Despite having married others, Elise and Edmond remain deeply in love as Edmond risks his life fighting with King Richard's forces in the Holy Land. Now a scholar at the court of the Norman King of Sicily, Martin learns that the monstrous Abraxas brotherhood has reappeared there. He begins a dangerous pursuit, disrupting progress on his major work and delaying a long-awaited reunion with his former colleague, Khalil al-Din, in Cordoba. All the while, the reader follows the cult’s chilling path from Normandy to Sicily, Cyprus, and Malta. As its leader’s madness grows, the deadly perils of the chase increase. At last, Martin learns how powerful the forces of the cult arrayed against him are. Caught up in the fates imposed on them, the protagonists of THE GROTTO struggle to survive a time of brutal conflict in God’s name.
