Leslie Lotton, a young American woman in search of a new life, attends a summer school program in Florence, Italy. Even thought classes and student housing are in a beautiful villa owned by a royal family, both the villa and the royal family hold dark secrets. She discovers that her new roommate is part of a drug ring and pushes Leslie to join the business. But being courted by the organization to join the business isn’t her only problem—she is stalked and then kidnapped. Using every self-preservation skill in her arsenal, she escapes and leaves the country. But then the Italian police arrest a man they suspect is her captor as well as a serial killer. In his possession is a copy of Leslie’s book where she wrote details of her harrowing experiences? Now the Italian police want her to return to Italy to assist them in solving their case. Can she return to the place of tragedy to help bring this man to justice or not? If he is found not guilty—could his release mean that she may be his next victim?

Barbara began writing after many other careers: advertising, retail sales, managed an Import, Export Company featuring Murano glass, jewelry design, and artist’s agent. She first became interested in writing reality TV game shows. However, it wasn’t until she wrote a children’s story, which delighted the children who were the characters in the story, that she considered embarking on a new career, writing novels. She began with a story about the protagonist’s experience during a summer study program in Florence, Italy, Unidentified Person in Italy. Barbara’s ideas didn’t cease with the first book. Her characters continued in her mind and she created the sequel, Disillusioned. Barbara is currently writing three more stories: two true stories and one romance thriller. All of her writing centers on dysfunctional families and individuals. The focus is to alert the readers to the lessons that can be learned from the stories and how to turn those lessons to ones advantage so that they will have a positive and successful life. Barbara is a southern girl from South Carolina. She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and also studied language at the University of Michigan.
