Joined the Navy...Became both a pilot and an instructor- flying everything from Piper Cubs to four-engine Super-Constellations. After 30 years in the U.S. Navy Barton retired -for the first time- from the post of the U.S. Naval Attaché to Thailand. But he just kept going. After retiring Barton earned his MA from George Washington University and began a second career as an author and journalist. He followed this with a third career as a China consultant and translator. He retired fully at age 90 to work on his memoirs. Around the World in Eighty Years is Barton's third book. Charles A. Barton, Captain, United States Navy, Retired, is the award winning author of two previous books and numerous articles. His book "Howard Hughes and His Flying Boat' won the aviation book of the year award in 1982, and has been in print ever since.
