In her personal history, Rita Larsen Marrocco gives a lively recounting of her living through some of Canada’s major events ofthe twentieth century. Born in 1924, she was raised on the Saskatchewan prairie during the time of the Depression. At the age of nineteen, she volunteered to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the second world war, and was stationed ‘overseas’ in Gander, Newfoundland. After the war, as a veteran she was one of the fortunate women of the time to attend university. She raised eight ‘baby-boom’ children with her husband, lived her Christian faith, and in her forties started a new career as a high school teacher. Enjoy her engaging stories, which are told with frankness, wisdom and humor.
