Synopsis

'Hills of the West Wind' is a response by Chris Binks to the beauty of the Tasmanian landscape. In this stunning book, Chris surveys the processes that shaped the landscape and the relationship between the people of the Island and the land. He considers the growth of tension between those who celebrate the beauty of the land and those who wish to harness Tasmania's natural resources. Tasmania is now at a crossroads and the people can either go on to a new, positive era of cooperation or return to the dark days of distrust. Hills of the West Wind offers insights into future directions for the nation and the island. 'Hills of the West Wind' was first produced as a limited deluxe edition. That edition sold out and is now being republished in paperback. It includes historical photographs, original hand drawn maps, and paintings by Tasmanian artists.
