Synopsis

Who is this woman called Prudence?

She becomes infatuated with the actress Mrs Patrick Campbell. She storms the House of Lords shouting ’Votes for women!’ long before Mrs Pankhurst appears on the scene. She mixes with the Bloomsbury group and comes very close to seducing John Maynard Keynes. She devotes a large part of her life trying to uncover the secret behind her husband's disappearance in WW1.

Prudence may not otherwise have much purpose to her life, but she sure leads a full one. Born to inattentive parents in Victorian London she is forced to make her own rules and her own way in the world. And being Prudence, she does it with dash, panache, and a total disregard for society and convention.

'My favourite thing about this novel was the brilliant characterisation and Prudence's charming and witty voice. She was so engaging and written with such deftness and lightness - she felt very real and she was a great character to spend a book with.' The Selfie Awards.
