Jonathan Dyer spent five years in the intelligence branch of the U.S. Army during the early 1980s. He was trained as a Russian linguist at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, before receiving additional training at the National Security Agency. He was then shipped overseas to Field Station Berlin, where he lived, worked, and met his future wife, Kerry. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he attended law school at the University of California Davis where he served as the Executive Editor of the U.C. Davis Law Review. Mr. Dyer practiced law as a commercial litigator in both California and South Carolina until he decided to leave the practice of Law in 1999. That year he began a career teaching American History and Government in a small high school in Napa, California, where he and his family have lived for more than 20 years.
