After 20 years of marriage and three children, full-time mum Pia Pasternack came home one day to find a note on the doormat and her husband gone. Heartbroken, this was the first of a series of revelations that left her and her family reeling. Gradually, she built herself back up, and in Making Peace with Divorce, her first book, Pia passes on the lessons she, her friend, author Sarah Rayner and others have learned about the legal, financial and emotional implications of separation. Together they guide you through the minefield that accompanies the bust-up of many long-term relationships, exploring with warmth and humour sensitive issues such as whether to separate, how to break the news to children (if you have them) and how best to communicate with your ex. You’ll find clear and concise guidance on finding a lawyer, filling in forms and reaching a settlement. And if a settlement cannot be reached, there’s the low-down to help prepare you for what happens at court. Sarah Rayner is the author of five novels including the international bestseller, One Moment, One Morning and the two follow-ups, The Two Week Wait and Another Night, Another Day. In 2014 she published Making Friends with Anxiety, a warm, supportive little book to help ease worry and panic. This was followed by a series of books including Making Friends with the Menopause and Making Friends with Depression. In 2017 Sarah set up the small press, creativepumpkinpublishing.com and invited Pia to write for the new imprint. Making Friends with Divorce is the result of that suggestion. After a brief marriage, Sarah separated from her first husband in 2005. She met Tom, to whom she is now married, in 2007 and they live in Brighton. You can get in touch with Sarah via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, all accessible through her website, sarah-rayner.com
