Synopsis

A gripping novel of foreign intrigue, with a definitive foreign trade solution. A formula our politicians can follow to start negotiations on a Level Playing Field. The Samurai are not dead, nor is the Emperor an impotent symbol. A secret army using weapons of finance and psychological control, as well as murder, explain Japan's domination of foreign trade. Their motivation becomes apparent as Scott Maxwell discovers a hidden society, a Shakai. Democratic elections uphold the Japanese facade as the Shakai manipulates every move in business, foreign trade, the judiciary and political system. Tokyo's secret agenda of deception is soon discovered and the chase begins. One step away and getting closer, it's a game where death becomes an acceptable option. Powerful and convincing, the new-ones being trained in the Emperor's secret army drive the story until the Americans finally beat the Japanese at their own game. Not only does America win, but we know why. So real, you'll want our trade negotiators to adopt "The Level Playing field". We talk about wanting to be on a level playing field, but we've never defined what that means. To negotiate anything; we first need to know where we are, and if we don't know where that is, how can we hope to get there? We must define that place right now. This novel does that, with a very fun read ...enjoy.

À propos de l'auteur

John currently lives in Toronto, Ontario, and is happily retired with his lovely wife Lorna. John achieved his B.A. in Economics as well as his MBA from the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. He also received his CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation following graduation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. John worked as Chief Financial Officer for a Canadian computer services company, and Vice-President Finance for a national advertising company prior to his long career in the financial services industry. John lived in the United States for more than thirty years working in the financial services industry, with most of that period as a Registered Investment Advisor, working in a No-Commission, Fee-Only Advisory capacity. John wrote quarterly newsletters over that thirty-year period, addressing political, economic and market related issues and has always enjoyed the macro-economic perspective. The Level Playing Field is his first book, and was developed as a consequence of character building the protagonist in chapter two of his originally intended book about Canada/U.S. cross-border business and politics. This story was too compelling to not develop, so there may be another book coming! That is of course if you can get him away from family and travelling. He is looking forward to their first grandchild, will go almost anywhere for a game of golf (weather permitting), and will tow his Scout Sportfish to almost any attractive body of water. I hope you enjoy the book, and look forward to hearing from you. John Kingston
